Ideation
For initial sketches and ideas I tried to think outside the box getting inspired by the structure of the building itself. There are hard edge geometric forms but as you look closer there is a circular pattern surrounding the form.

logo exploration 1
From the sketches I built up some and came up with newer refined ideas. I made several variations for each trying to find unique ways of showing and representing the museum.

logo dev 1
More variations!!! I wanted to test how far I could push this idea and have a simple but playful design. I decided to further explore the bottom left because it was simple and still implied dimension.

logo dev 2
I wanted to pay with overlapping letter forms in an abstract way. This was interesting but since I wanted to explore a different render I chose to continue with the top right variation.

logo dev 3
I focused on two design styles. One more geometric and another very gradient heavy. I thought bringing dimension and lighting to this very geometric form would be different and unique.

chosen logo
With this logo there is a celebration between two aspects of the museum. One celebrating modern art and another celebrating classical paintings. We see this with the marriage of two typefaces.

refined logo
Due to the font being too detailed in the previous version this felt more unified yet different. It still communicates the same message celebrating art forms in the museum.
