SOME
process
vids ;)

Notice how the data changes when I move my pointer and thumb? When I increase distance and rotate something happens within the data. I used this data from rotation and distance to trigger change of visuals and text!! I used pointer distance to create pixelation.

MediaPipeline

Mediapipeline is an outsourced file that helps us track point data on our hands and faces to link interactivity to. In my file I specifically used data from my thumbs and index finger to guide visuals.

Assets

In this interaction I was really interested in type and visuals telling a story. So I chose 4 visuals that communicated "following the crowd". I chose a flock of birds, traffic, herd of sheep and people in a subway. I chose 4 songs that match the energy of the visuals whether it's edm or flutes. My font chosen is pixelated because it would look more visually interesting as you interact with it an distort it over organic imagery.

Distortion

I was able to create some interesting distortion with the type as the footage interacts with it. I also created more pixel texture on the type  and footage using a limit and edge top. Limits basically measure the pixels while an edge top outlines imagery and any top inputs.

THE SETUP.

My network in Touchesigner is shown below. Shall we take a closer look? I have sections that show the different parts of my file that create the look of this piece. First we should look at the assets.

don't follow the crowd!

After some type explorations I thought it would be fun to create visuals that focused on one phrase. I came across the video above and it helped me decide on a message, "don't follow the crowd".

TOUCHDESIGNER PROJECT

INTERACTIVE VISUALS

The main goal of this project was to create a system controlled by media pipeline inputs.

thoughts?

I loved the experimental feel that the distortion created! The visuals created cool textures as well. I think something I want to work on is the clarity of my interaction. it isn't that clear on what to do and what it can do.
