During the Summer of 2025 I spent my summer in Utah under Utah Mammoth which is the NHL team in Utah. While there I had the freedom to do some potential design and animation designs for their rebrand as well as short animation for the media team.

Style explorations
Electric glitch
This exploration explored a more technical look and feel. I was inspired by glitch animation and anime action scenes. Throughout this animation we follow a puck that ultimately ends in a goal
Purpose- for in game screens when a goal is made
This exploration explored a clean look to a potential players reveal for the new season. It offers opportunities to use type as texture and information
Purpose- for in game screens or social media

future exploration focus
After some critique with design teams focusing on this particular shape as a motif for motion. Also continuing some of the technical styles but related more Utah and the Mammoth team was decided.
The design team created some assets that represented the landscape, Utah state, the hockey arena and digital textures. The motion team kept them in the rest of the experiments in preperation for the new look and feel of the season.
TRANSITIONS
I used the logos sharp edge as a base for the first transition experiment. To make it feel powerful and tactical there are some diagram lines and powerful motion.

This Transition used the container shape for a logo version for Utah Mammoth. It is inspired by the shape of Utah state and is often used as a container in media for the team.

More exploration
I explored different backgrounds and type treatment in certain compositions.

thoughts
This was my first internship which ended up being really fun! Happy that I explored this style and dove into sports graphics. The marketing team was so welcoming and fun to be around so I learnt a lot from them.
